Question by : I quit smoking but feel terrible?
I quit smoking well over a month ago.
I obviously know this is obviously the healthiest thing to do but I feel worse! I wake up every morning with a sore throat and I keep getting headaches and I get light headed when ever I smell smoke.
When will i get the benefits of quitting?

I’m proud of you for quitting! :0) (It sucks at first but, hang in there!) It sounds like to me you might be experiencing seasonal allergies more than withdraw symptoms at this point. Being that your sinus were previously blocked and numbed from nicotine, it would make sense that you are finally reacting to seasonal pollens (allergies). Call your doctor for an appointment if you think an over-the-counter allergy medication like Zyrtec or Allegra won’t help. If you choose to try the over-the-counter medication first, try the 12 hour version…they are slightly more potent than the 24-hour versions. Best wishes! :0)

You are already getting the benefits of quitting. Within 5 minutes the healing starts. Sometimes the body goes through with drawls (headaches and sore throats being some of them) and with the high amount of stress you endure your body can go through a wide range of symptoms. Its like the smokers flu or cold. Very common. Get more rest if you can. If you are really concerned see your GP and get assessed to give yourself peace of mind.
When I quit smoking I went through crazy with drawls. I took a lot of vitamin C to promote healing, I drank an incredible amount of water to detox. Then eventually I did a body detox. Its been 3 years and I don’t crave, I haven’t since the with drawls dissipated.
Wow, this is my sixth day without a cig and I am really feeling the effects of withdrawal! No sore throat but I have had a slight headache since quitting. Already can taste my food and smell again after twenty nine years of smoking, wonderful benefits. Hang in there…I am no matter how uncomfortable. I had a TIA and ended up in the ER a week ago, made a believer out of me. I smoke again, I die simple as that. God Bless and the best of luck to you!
